The Lady Eagles will begin Playoffs at Bryan High School with Bi-District round Feb. 11 against Cameron at 6:15. Fairfield will play as the home team. Tickets will be sold online, presale only. There will be 420 tickets available, prices starting at $3 for students and $4 for adults. Girls basketball under head coach Sally Whitaker and associate head coach Randy Barger started an exciting season after winning the State Championship last March in one of the last high school events before the Covid shut-down. That pressure hasn’t stopped the girls from a 13-0 lead in district with high scoring games and a 20-2 season so far.
The last district game will be Feb. 8 away against Teague.

“Basketball is my dream,” sophomore McKinna Brackens said, “and it brings out a whole other side of me.”
The girls won their non-district practice game against A&M Consolidated Feb. 6 with a score of 84-32.
“We have definitely made progress as a team,” junior Breyunna Dowell said. “Our defense is finally coming together. It makes me feel like I will always have a family on and off the court and I really love that. Either way I leave the court with no regrets, so I couldn’t be more satisfied.”
The girls also won against Crockett Feb. 5 with a score of 91-22.
“Everyone individually has grown a lot this year” junior Jarahle Daniels said. “I just love the sport. The way we play and who I play with.”
