The Fairfield Lady Eagles cruised through the week of district games and have not allowed more than 20 points in four consecutive games.
The first game of the week was a scheduled road contest in Buffalo, but the school had some issues within the gym, so it was relocated on game day to the Johnson Activity Center. The change of venue did not influence the defending state champions with an easy win over the Lady Bison.
Fairfield began the game with some great passing and easy scores by Shadasia Brackens and Jarahle Daniels. The Lady Bison would miss shots and the Lady Eagles would turn that into instant offense.
Buffalo could not score in the opening period and the Lady Eagles led 17-0 at the end of one.
The Lady Eagles continued the run up to 32-0 before Iris Valles hit a free throw to put the Lady Bison on the scoreboard. Fairfield allowed a basket to trim the lead to 32-3 but ripped off the final ten points of the half to lead 42-3.
The second half used a mixture of starters and reserves to finish out the remainder of the game. Buffalo was outscored 21-13 in the second half for a 63-16 final score. Dowell led the way with 14 points and Daniels added 11 points. Each member of the varsity suited up scored points for the Lady Eagles, including Avery Thaler (2 points), Kaylee Billock (2 points), Essence Watkins (6 points), Makensy Isaacs (1 point), Jenny Pina (2 points).
The Friday site was again the Johnson Activity Center with a dominating win over the Palestine Westwood Lady Panthers 85-8. Fairfield had only allowed three points in the first meeting, so the season series ended with a 155-11 tally.
Fairfield started the game in full court pressure which yielded easy baskets in the first period. The Lady Eagles jumped out to a quick lead, but Dickens and Coney scored first quarter baskets and trimmed the lead to 9-5. For the remainder of the half, Fairfield shut out the Lady Panthers 43-0 to lead 54-5. Dowell scored ten and Shadasia Brackens added 15 in the first half.
The Lady Eagles continued to hold the Lady Panthers at bay, allowing a free throw in the second half of a 31-1 tally. Shadasia Brackens finished the night with 17 points and Dowell added 18 to lead the scoring.
Fairfield leads the district by a good margin and are off this Tuesday.
