My daffodils are up! Yay!! I was a little worried because of the snow last week afraid they might be stunted or maybe wouldn’t come up at all. It is always such a welcome sight to see the daffodils because I know Spring is coming. Speaking of Spring…the last two weeks we have been visited by a Hummingbird each week. I am so happy about seeing this little guy!
The cows tried to run away from the snow. They took off for the Sweet Gum Grove lickety split when the snow started to be heavy. I don’t blame them, and I got a great picture of them running down that way. One cow had a baby and I felt so sorry for that baby, but the Momma did a good job of protecting it. Sundance seems to have been weaned away from her herd. She doesn’t put up a fuss about them being in one pasture and her being in another.
The Hay Meadow is still pretty wet so when we feed on the back, I cut the wrap up at the gate and The Colonel takes it to them. It is kind of hard when you don’t have someone to open and close the gates, especially if the cows try to come in on you. Well, I should say I have a hard time. The Colonel has done it so many years they don’t give him any problems even though there are always new cows in the group. We have had a great time being outside in the fresh air even if it is cold. We’ve set on the front porch and had our hot chocolate and talked about the “old days”. The Red Oak Ranch is a great place to relax.
