Mr. Carroll passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020, at his residence in Teague.

He was born in Fairfield on October 22, 1937. Mr. Carroll was the quarterback for the Fairfield Eagles football team and was given the long standing nick-name, “Monkey”, by one of his coaches. He graduated with the Fairfield High School class of 1956 and continued to stay close with many of his classmates all of his life. After graduation, he moved to Dallas and went to work for Sears & Roebuck Co. He met Shirley in Dallas and they married on February 18, 1959, and shared over forty-nine years of marriage together until being separated by her death on May 10, 2008. Mr. Carrol eventually returned to Teague with his wife and went to work for the BNSF Railroad where he was a conductor for forty-two years until his retirement. “Monkey” enjoyed the country lifestyle and farming and ranching, but was best known for loving to visit with any and everyone. He truly never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anybody. Mr. Carroll was a Baptist and attended Cedar Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by three children, Deborah Cox & husband Dennis of Teague, Judy Angel & husband David of Dew, and Allan Carroll & wife Cyndy of Teague; thirteen grandchildren, Randon Foley & wife Amy, Bradly Cox & wife Mechelle, Tiea Cowley, Johnna Foley, Jeremy Cox & wife Nicole, Trent Cox, Allana Graham, Keith Carroll & wife Autumn, Ashley Synder & husband Matt, Crystal Carroll, Dylan Angel, Devin Angel, and Dustin Angel; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Buchanan & husband J. R. of Cotton Gin; other relatives and friends.

Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Carroll; one brother, Jimmy Carroll, and his parents, William Allan & Thelma Mae Carroll.
