Dear Editor,

You took a picture of my car being towed off in The Times dated Dec 23.

The caption under photo read…….”just a REMINDER to slow down and watch out for traffic during the busy holiday season….”

To whomever wrote those comments:

Please be advised that no one involved in this accident was SPEEDING and your comments suggests that someone ones. Please be more careful with your choice of words. A large population of Fairfield, Texas know that it was my car and I assure you I was not speeding nor did I receive a citation. The gentleman that hit me was at fault. I am thankful and grateful for all the first responders on the scene and to the driver of the truck that hit me for staying by myside until they arrived.

If you would like to remind someone to be careful, remind the owner of this paper (publicly), Scott Marsters, to not set hay on fire!

Why was there not a picture of that in the paper as a REMINDER of the damage an unattended fire can cause?

Deborah Day
Fairfield, Texas

Editor’s Note: Glad you are both okay. Names were not included in last week’s caption because we did not have that information at press time.

However, as accidents tend to increase during the holiday season, we used the picture to illustrate that drivers should take extra care this time of year. Slowing down and watching for traffic are two of the best actions we can all take in order to prevent a possible accident.

Stay safe, everyone.

I reached out to Mr. Marsters and he indicated that if you have seen one grass fire, you’ve seen them all.
