The City of Fairfield and the Fairfield Economic Development Corporation can announce that Tractor Supply Company will be coming to Fairfield in 2021.
Tractor Supply will take the space occupied by the former Fred’s dollar store on West Commerce Street in Fairfield.
Also, the store will also occupy space currently held by Lott Physical Therapy and Fitness Center. Lott’s began plans to build a new facility on West Commerce Street across Highway 84.
“We are excited to welcome Tractor Supply into our city,” Mayor Kenneth Hughes said. “I am also excited that Lott’s plans to move and expand in Fairfield. These projects show that Fairfield can grow and will continue to grow in the years to come.”
The Fairfield Economic Development Corporation aided both the Tractor Supply and Lott projects with site development grant funding.
”It has been a great opportunity for the FEDC to help a national retailer come to town and retain an existing business at the same time,” FEDC Executive Director David Fowler said.
“Without the support of David Fowler and the FEDC board, I’m not sure Lisa and I would have been able to take on a project of this magnitude, especially during these financially uncertain times,” said David Lott. “I started my practice in Fairfield over 20 years ago and felt strongly about staying here. FEDC provided us assistance throughout the process, from purchasing land to preparing to build.
“We were very impressed with David (Fowler) and the resources he provided – the speedy responses were so appreciated. I am excited to add a beautiful new building to our main drag through Fairfield and look forward to many more years serving the Freestone county community,” David Lott said.
Tractor Supply and Lott projects are the third and fourth projects announced by the City and the Fairfield Economic Development Corporation.
In 2020, investors committed to invest more than $10 million and create an estimated 100 jobs to the city in the coming year.
Based on the company’s website, Tractor Supply was founded over 80 years ago and has grown from its early days as a tractor parts catalog company to become the largest retail store chain of rural lifestyle products, with 1,900 stores in 49 states, a robust e-commerce website and more than 38,000 Team Members across the country.
The company opened 80 new Tractor Supply stores in 2019 and expects to continue its strategic expansion plans with 75 to 80 new store openings in 2020.
