The full restoration on the nineteenth Century Freestone County Jail allowed for the discovery of not one but two fireplaces that were hidden behind the wall!

Paint, in a sort of mint green tint, is going up on the plaster walls and baseboard is being installed.

Campbell Custom Homes of Bullard, Texas is the company now working on the jail, and is the same company who built the Littlejohn House.

In addition to finding the two fireplaces they were able to copy the known about fireplace’s mantle to make the two new ones match properly.

Things are going along rather quickly and it looks like next year should see the end of this project, began in 2013.

The Littlejohn house is complete and really very pretty, along with the repairs made to the Bethel church.

Make time to head out to the museum and see how wonderfully things are going out there.

They are open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for only $5.00 per person.
