The Teague Lions continued the non-district portion of the scheduled with a second tough opponent in the home opener.
Teague trailed 8-7 at the half but Lago Vista scored two unanswered touchdowns to preserve the Vikings victory.
Teague was coming off a loss in the opener to three-time state champion Mart and would take on a Lago Vista team seeing their first action of the season.
The Vikings took charge early in the first quarter as the teams had their opening possessions. It was the big play for Lago Vista with Logan Parsons ripping off a 67-yard touchdown run with 8:46 remaining in the opening quarter. Braden Smith took the ball on the conversion and scored the two points to give the Vikings an 8-0 lead.
The Lions matched that scored with 1:18 remaining in the first quarter. Senior running back Nemier Herod broke away from the Viking defense and scored on a 12-yard touchdown run. The extra point was good, and Teague had cut the Viking lead to one at 8- 7.
Lago Vista began to take control midway through the third quarter and tacked on a touchdown with 5:21 remaining. Adrian Hernandez tossed a 23-yard pass to Jordan Tait and the Viking built a 15-7 following the point after.
Lago Vista added a late touchdown run by Parsons to set the final score at 22-7.
The Teague Lions take to the road next week when they travel to Madisonville to tangle with the Mustangs, game time is set for a 7:30 kickoff.
