School started in Freestone County at three different districts: Dew, Teague and Wortham.

At press time on Monday, August 17, 2020, at least one campus switched to virtual learning due to a positive COVID-19 case.

Wortham ISD was notified on Thursday, August 13, 2020, that a staff member had tested positive for COVID-19.

The decision was made to temporarily switch all Wortham Middle School students to virtual learning, in order to allow everyone to self-isolate for fourteen days.

School Districts cannot breach a person’s privacy and release the name or information of anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Then, Teague ISD released a notification on Monday, August 17, 2020, that someone who was on the Teague Junior High campus Friday, August 14, 2020 had tested positive for COVID-19.

The notification states that, “Operations at Teague Junior High will continue as usual, and we will keep you apprised of further updates.”

Always remember that the numbers are what were reported from the state, and there are many factors included in counting numbers.
