Teague Chamber of Commerce awarded members of the community during the Thursday, July 30, 2020 Award Ceremony that was a different, yet heartwarming, for all involved.

Starting off the awards was the W.R. Boyd Jr Cup, a lifetime achievement award for civic service in the community.

Created in 1927, recommendations are sent to, and then voted on by, past recipients.

This year the recipient was Jerry Pickens (at top). A firefighter of eighteen years, who helped build the new fire station.

Mr. Pickens has been married to his wife, Norma, for fifty-one years, and proudly says he has, “Lived here all my life.”

The Teague ISD Students of the Year were also awarded during the ceremony after being selected by the teachers of Teague ISD.

Principal Crystal Adams presented the Student of the Year award to Aileen Escobedo of Teague Elementary.

Principal Drake Paris presented Reece Stacks with the Junior High Student of the Year award.

The High School recipient was Jaucelyn Gibson, 2020 Salutatorian, with Principal Tracie Ezell proudly handing her the award.
