Nelda Joyce Gray, resident of Fairfield, Texas, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at the age of 78.

She was born in Plain Dealing, Louisiana on March 18, 1942 to James Morgan and Mary Gleason Morgan.

She worked for a number of years for Texas Utilities at the mine where she worked in every aspect of the operation. After her retirement from Texas Utilities she started building custom homes in business as Gray’s Design and Contracting.

She never met a stranger and would often see people in town who she either worked with at the mine or had built them their home.

Nelda was a member of Jesus First Ministries in Streetman where she was the church secretary and the treasurer.

She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved her family unconditionally and was always there for them, she was their “wonder Women.”

She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings; Shirley Morgan Jester and Talmadge Morgan, Husband; Art Gray and grandson; Jeremy Gregory.

She is survived by her children; Tonya Gray, Shawn Gray and wife Tamera, Tammie Lide and husband Billy. Step-children; Jeff Grimes, Dean Chap and wife Deelyn and Sheila Stroud. Siblings; Earlene Swain, Roy Morgan, James Morgan and Janice Gillenwater. Grandchildren; Tosha Miller, Blake Gray, Tara Easter and husband Rex, Taylor Gray, Lindsey Schouten and husband Pete, Chris Lide, Tanna Lide, Ginger Scriber and husband Billy, Ethan Grimes, Mitchell Chap, Michael Chap and Chase Chap. Seven great grandchildren and numerous extended family members.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at the Lake Chapel Cemetery with Danny Richardson officiating.

Pallbearers were Chris Lide, Blake Gray, Rex Easter, Tim Ezell, Lee Kirgan and Raymond Robins.
