Dear Editor,

We used to live in Dallas before moving to Fairfield 16 years ago. We have owned our place for 41 years and been full-timers here the past 16. Thank God. When we left, Dallas was still an all-American city: relatively crime-free and politically conservative. Today, it is more like Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Boston, etc. It has devolved into an ultra-liberal, quasi-socialist center, politically controlled by marginally (if that) qualified elected officials and overseen by a self-professed open-the-borders county judge. It is fortunate that there has been no high profile outrage like the recent murder of George Floyd by a white cop in Minneapolis.

To be absolutely clear: that man’s death was murder, pure and simple, and the policeman has been charged with that crime. He should be severely punished. What has happened in the aftermath has sadly been a combination of legitimate protests and a wave of violent crime – arson, vandalism, theft, and anarchy. Marching in protest is an American’s right; torching the neighborhood mom & pop grocery, looting stores, and stealing ATM machines is crime – pure and simple. The police in that city abandoned a precinct police station because it was seen as “provocative” to the mobs outside. It was a despicable abdication of authority.

Black lives do matter; all lives matter. Missing in the current press narrative of minority victimhood is the fact that over 95% of those murder victims were killed by other minority men, not white cops. This is an indisputable fact. Yesterday’s Dallas Morning News was saturated with left-slanted articles about the terrible state of the country today. I believe that the situation this summer and fall is indeed critical. Something will markedly change after the election. One way or the other.

If we do not stabilize our society and regain a sense of rational reality between now and November, we will see police departments defunded, borders thrown open, a green new deal & taxes to pay for it, and the end of our country as we have known it. Think hard before November and ACT.

God Bless America.
