Navarro Complex property plans were a major point of discussion during the Monday, May 11, 2020 Fairfield ISD School Board meeting.

The school has accepted bids for abatement and/or remediation on the complexes multiple buildings, and are looking at approximately $73,000.

The ‘operator’s building’ alone will cost close to $40,000 to do the work, Although there are no plans as of right now for it, the School District is looking for a bid on bulldozing if necessary.

They are also waiting on a second bid for the main building’s roof, “Obviously, if there are roof issues and there has to be some repair work done to the roof, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to remediate for mold right now,” stated Superintendent Dr. Jason Adams.

Discussion continued about the need to clean up the grounds, and that there has been mild vandalism.

Yet, until FISD closes on the property, they are unable to address these issues.

Monies that were originally budgeted for various expenses were not used due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so the School Board has found ways to apply these funds to other sources.

Approximately 200 computers are to be purchased to replace the teacher’s computers with a newer, more updated, machine.

The older computers will also be repurposed to replace student’s computers that are around ten years old.

The contract with Service Solutions was renewed, with Board Trustee Kevin Benedict adding, “Please extend our thanks to all the service solutions staff for all the work that they have and continue to do.”
