What a beautiful day today was! Sun shining, wind not too bad, warm temperature, and porch sitting activity! I looked out the breakfast area window and saw the cows lying in the pasture and it was a wonderful picture. They were almost lined up, peaceful looking, every one of them looked as if they had posed for the picture. The grass was green, the tank was full again, and the trees are budding out. Marvelous.
After writing about how the cows are not eating hay that is set out for them, today they started eating on the bales. They must have read the column. A few of them were still grazing but the majority were crowded by the hay bales and where it had been rolled out for them. Some of the new babies were lying in it; now that is a sweet picture.
Tomorrow is suppose to be another super day right before three days of rain. We need the rain but honestly the sun looked so good today after the dreary days the past few days. It didn’t rain but it was cloudy and icky. We are getting ready to move the “girls” in the corral. We decided not to throw them into the Yearling Herd just yet. So, we are going to reinforce the fence with a quick gate repair in the Sundance’s paddock and put them down there first. I am not sure how she is going to take that, but she doesn’t have a choice. We have noticed her, in what appears, to be having conversations with one of the Yearlings already in that herd. Sephora is timid and gets pushed around quite a bit. She doesn’t take up for herself at all. Sundance seems to have appointed herself as Sephora’s protector. We have some very thoughtful animals on the Red Oak Ranch.
