Only seven days remaining for candidates to file for City Council and School Board elections, held in May.
Filing period to place your name on the ballot for both entities will remain open until February 14th, 2020.
As of press time, several incumbents have filed, along with a couple of new names.
Candidates so far include:
FAIRFIELD – filing for Mayor are Kenneth Hughes and James Tyus;
TEAGUE – filing for Mayor is James Monks; for Alderman is Jerry Ballew (Place 1);
WORTHAM – no filings at press time;
STREETMAN – filing for Mayor is Johnny Robinson; for Streetman Commissioners are Heather Davis and Barbara Polk;
FAIRFIELD ISD – filing for Board member are Kevin Benedict, John Fryer, and Kyle Lightsey;
TEAGUE ISD – no filings at press time;
WORTHAM ISD – filing for Board member are Michael Dunn (Place 5), Whalen Gierisch (Place 6) and Jeff Jones (Place 7).
Positions up for election include the following:
CITY COUNCIL
–Fairfield (903-389-2633) – Mayor, Councilman – Place 1 and Place 2.
–Teague (254-739-2547) – Mayor, Alderman – Place 1 and Place 3.
–Wortham (254-765-3319) – Councilman – three Places At Large.
–Streetman (903-599-2567) – Mayor, Commissioners – two Places At Large.
SCHOOL DISTRICT
–Fairfield (903-389-2532) – Two Places At Large.
–Teague (254-739-1300) – Two Places At Large.
–Wortham (254-765-3095) – Place 5, Place 6, and Place 7.
–Dew – Dew ISD holds elections in November.
