Food truck fees, alcohol sales, and the Old Municipal Power Plant were discussed at Teague’s Board of Aldermen meeting on January 21, 2020.

Vendor fees had beenset at $25 per day back in August 2019, the same time as the budget, at the time the City of Teague was unaware of the need for an annual fee.

After a quick discussion at last week’s meeting, the Board of Aldermen voted, with four in favor and one absent, to offer two options: $200 annually or a daily rate of $25.

City Administrator Theresa Bell-Prasil also clarified that local food trucks that work on their own property inside Teague city limits and tie-down their food truck are subject to a business fee of $50 annually, in lieu of the vendor fee.

Next, the Board of Aldermen are considering a change to the ordinances that pertain to the sale and consumption of alcohol on city properties.

This would allow things like a beer garden at a large event such as the Rodeo or Christmas in the Parks.

The Community Center would also be included, so that in the future a wedding held there could enjoy a champagne toast, if they like.

Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission Licensing will still be required.

A vote on changing these ordinances may appear on next month’s meeting agenda.

Finally, the Board of Aldermen had voted to get quotes for having the Old Municipal Power Plant demolished during the November 2019 meeting.

During this January meeting, the board decided that before demolishing the building, they should spend the money to make sure the building is not salvageable.
