Reaching in to steal the ball from Mexia is Breyunna Dowell.

The Fairfield Lady Eagles dominated Mexia and Madisonville with big wins and lead the district through the first round of district play.


Fairfield has a 4-0 record halfway through the district and have won by a 38 point average per victory, the closest game an 18 point margin.


The Lady Eagles took to the road on Tuesday with a matchup with the rival Mexia Ladycats. Fairfield led from wire to wire in the 87-31 win.

Up for two is Braden Bossier during a huge win for the Lady Eagles against the Mexia Blackcats.


Fairfield hit four of their first five shots with Braden Bossier having a couple of baskets with free throws. Emori Davis and freshman Shadasia Brackens hit three pointers and Brackens would add another later in the quarter. Mexia got a couple of scores from Yasmine Green but the early separation in score put the Lady Eagles ahead 28- 9.


Fairfield continued to pour on the defensive pressure and built a big halftime lead. Freshman McKinna Brackens scored six of ten points, with the other four coming from Jada Clark on the fast break. Shadasia Brackens hit her third three pointer of the half and the Ladycats could only get four points in the period and the Lady Eagles led 49-13 at the half.

Up and over the defense, Ms. Brackens adds two, to the eagle score.


One more dominating period and the reserves took over for Fairfield. The Lady Eagles hit on six of eight possessions in the period, many of the with the offense on the run and added to the lead which was 73-21. Belle Johnson hit a three and Jarahle Daniels added another in the fourth and the final score was 87-34.


Shadasia Brackens had 17 points and McKinna Brackens added 16 and Bossier put in a double double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

The Lady Eagles hosted Madisonville on Friday night and coasted to a 69-29 win, by building a huge first quarter lead and maintaining the edge throughout the remainder of the game.
