Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from the Wortham Garden Club!
Let me start by saying, choosing winning yards this year was very hard. We had a large number of great yards to choose from.
We want to comment on several yards in town that required a lot of work to get the yard looking like they do, Ms Ethel Goolsby to start with. We know how much she loved the Christmas and won the “Traditional Yard” several times over the years.
Thank you, Goolsby children, for doing it in her memory.
We want to call attention to a number of other yards this year starting with Ricky Ridge’s airplane, Marles Pace’s tractor, Bill Whaley’s tricycle, Kristina Krnavek’s Texas yard, Dion & Dena Looney’s yard, along with Brent & Patti Jones.
And then there is of course, the ones that have won the honors over the past few years starting with Carolyn Dunn, Sherri Shivers, Mike Goodwin, and Mrs. Graham on the corner of 5th and Highway 27, Mrs. and her family really put a lot of time into yard and she loves it.
We noticed Larry and Cheree Chapman’s house, along with Pat and Dwight Cherry’s, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Capers, Chris Goodwin and Peggy Chambers yards.
But, we had to narrow it down to one “Most Traditional” and one “Most Creative” yard.
So, with much thought and many trips back through town by our judges, Paul and Jacquelyn Collins won the “Most Traditional” this year and Betty Williams won the “Most Creative” this year.
Make sure you go through and look at these special yards.
I am sorry I could not mention every yard, but a lot of times the lights were out when we went by.
Hope you will try again next year to win. We hope you had a very Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!!
