The start of the New Year is the perfect time to organize a drawer, desk, room, and your home.
You ever walk in someone’s home and are just blown away how perfectly in place everything looks?
Good thing it is Get Organized Month, because you too can have a beautifully organized home.
Decide how many sections, rooms, you have and break each room down into a separate list so that you can tackle them on different days and at different times.
Next figure out approximately how much time you can spend per room, now double that.
Get your dates planned out on your trusty 2020 calendar.
Here is where it starts to be fun, gather everything up and spread your stuff out where you can see all at once, while paying close attention to where things were left.
As you decide what you want to keep, what you want to donate and/or sale, and what just needs to be thrown out. Labeled boxes and totes are super helpful for sorting.
Things to keep in mind:
Have a system in place for all paperwork needed for tax or warranty purposes.
Dispose of unnecessary papers, many things can be found/stored online.
Always have a place when you first walk in the home to collect items: a landing station.
Use a basket or tray to collect smaller items into one area without losing the organized look.
Make use of quality storage, a pantry should have an orderly storage system, but storage in other parts of the home can be more decorative and fun.
Downsize the number of items you keep but upgrade each individual item’s quality.
Countertops should always be clutter free and easy to clean.
Hooks are a versatile item that can hold onto things without having to fully put them away.
Anything from furniture down to that strange canned item can be donated.
Throw away anything expired you come across.
Remove cat toys from under the couch and become a hero.
Take pictures.
Congratulations! You now have bragging rights from One Amazing Month, and social media wants to know.
