Freestone County 4-H Awards Banquet was held December 5, 2019. All 4-H members were recognized for their club participation, projects, district and state contests, archery and shotgun competitions and major show participation. There are 6 4-H clubs in Freestone County, Dew 4-H, Eagle Country 4-H, Fairfield 4-H, Faith Academy 4-H, Freestone Community 4-H, Wortham 4-H as well as two shooting sports clubs for Archery and Shotguns. The club managers were also recognized for all their hard work and leadership they provide to these clubs.


The club managers are:
–Dew 4-H: Laura Tugwell, Laura is also the Project leader for Food Show, Food Challenge & Fashion Show
–Eagle Country 4-H: Melissa Benner
–Fairfield 4-H: Maggie Bonds & Misty Lewis
–Faith Academy 4-H: Kayla Lupo
–Freestone Community 4-H: Christi Kimball & Marsha Morgan
–Wortham 4-H: April Kofnovec & Mandy Henderson
–Archery Coach: Yvonne Brooke
–Shotgun Coaches: Josh Holcomb, George Robinson, Jody Bodine, Jason Nettle


The outstanding Adult Leader Award recipient is Yvonne Brooke, Yvonne has been the certified archery coach for Freestone County 4-H since 2016. She started with just one member and now has grown the program immensely. She has dedicated a lot of time, money and effort into the archery program.


The Friend of 4-H Award recipient is George & Regina Robinson, George & Regina have always been strong supporters of the Freestone County 4-H program. George is a certified shotgun coach and helps the youth interested in shotgun. They have donated a swine scale and given us a long term lease to build our very own shooting sports range. Because of their support we would like to thank George and Regina for being friends of 4-H.


The Spirit of 4-H award is an award given to 4-H members that are the true definition of what the 4-H program represents. Always kind, caring and thoughtful with their actions and they make everyone feel included and welcome in everything 4-H has to offer. These individuals shine with all six pillars of character and we are proud of these Spirit of 4-H award recipients:


The Junior Spirit of 4-H award winner is Brianna Myers;

and our Senior Spirit of 4-H award winner is Harli Hunt


The Star Awards are a series of awards showing progression of the 4-Hers involvement, including growth and diversification of both the 4-Her and their projects.


–The Bronze Star was created in order to honor our Junior/Intermediate 4-H members for their outstanding achievements in 4-H. This year’s Bronze Star award Recipient is—Cole Coufal


–The Silver Star is the third highest 4-H award at the county level. This year’s Silver Star award Recipient is Cooper Craddick


–“I Dare You” Award
Mr. William H. Danforth’s book, “I Dare You” was first published in 1931. It is still considered one of the most influential books in the area of personal motivation. The award is offered as recognition of excellence in character and well-balanced development as well as demonstrated leadership. The “I Dare You” is the second highest 4-H award at the county level. This year’s I Dare You award Recipient is Rachel Lewis.


–The Gold Star is the highest 4-H award at the county level. The Gold Star can be won only one time. This year’s Gold Star Award Recipient is Conner Jackson.


Freestone County 4-H would like to thank Freestone County Farm Bureau Board for sponsoring our 2019 Star Awards. Thank you to Carter Enterprises for their donation toward the meal for tonight’s event. Also, thank you to all our 4-H Adult Leaders for everything they do throughout the year.
