James William (Bill) Baker, 83, of Streetman, passed away Friday, November 29, 2019 in Fairfield. Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Capps Memorial Chapel with Pastor Don Vail officiating. Interment followed at Stewards Mill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wyatt Baker, Kris Stacy, Brian Stacy, Vernon Johnston, David Lennon, Austin Bowling, James York and Tres Board.
Bill was born August 18, 1936 in Streetman to parents John William and Katherynne Robinson Baker. He was a graduate of Fairfield High School in 1955. For forty years and one day he was employed in Dallas as an aircraft refueler for Allied Services. He returned home to Freestone County upon retirement. In addition to raising cattle and horses Bill was known for his love of fishing. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three wives, Pat, Loretta and Linda; two sons, Joe Kenneth Baker and John Day; one daughter, Rebecca York.
Left to cherish his memory are three children, Pam Poteet of Midlothian, TX; Robin Bowling of Liberty Hill, TX; John Baker and wife Michelle of Rhome, TX; one brother, Joe Baker of Streetman; one sister Rudelle Baker of Hawkins, TX; eleven grandchildren, Chris Poteet, Michael Poteet, Taylor Board, Austin Bowling, Wyatt Baker, Lily Baker, Jamie Jaramillo, Misty Smith, James York, Harley York and Samantha Day along with several great-grandchildren.
