Following last Monday’s Teague Board of Alderman meeting a grant was approved to repair the southwest portion of the sewer lines in Teague, Texas which are in serious need of emergency sewer pumping services.


City of Teague approved the Contract for Management Services with Traylor & Associates for the, at time of meeting, pending 2019 Texas Community Development Block Grant Program Sewer Improvement Project. On Friday, November 22nd, 2019 City Administrator Theresa Prasil announced that the Grant was approved and will be awarded.
This grant will allow, “sewer improvements that include the replacement of aged sewer lines and infrastructure located on the south side of Adams Street and the rehabilitation to the Jefferson Street Lift Station,” as per the press release from Prasil. Public Works Director Jacob Cowling addressed the Board of Aldermen in regards to the necessity for the need for an engineer to check the Old Power Plant Building to see if it needs repairs or to be completely torn down.
Cowling strongly emphasized that the building is not safe for use or occupancy at this point. Prasil explained that the roof is beginning to collapse.


The board voted to deny the proposal from TRC for Structural Integrity Services for repairing the Old Power Plant Building.
The Head Librarian Diane Willis explained the need for work to the Library Wall where the Mural is painted.
Currently the wall has three leaks in need or repair, and a portion of the wall has started to pull away from the brick.


A motion was made to have the wall repaired for $4,974 by Bi-Stone and $1,215 to paint where the repaired insets are located.
The City of Teague will approach the City of Fairfield in regards to a Settlement on the ongoing case City of Teague v. City of Fairfield.
Alderman Place 1 Jerry Ballew sat in as Mayor Pro Tempore and Marie Hertenberger was absent, all others were present allowing for a Quorum.
Other items discussed:


–Lovie Whyte was given all 107 City of Teague votes for the Board Directors of the Central Appraisal District of Freestone County.
–The addition of a tie down fee of $50 per month at the Airport was approved. Previous fees were $110 hangar fee per month, and a daily tie down fee of $20.
–A discussion over an offer from Mike Stewart for the addition of a shade shelter and large hangar to the airport was tabled till next meeting.
–The addition of a monitoring well, MW-7, was approved to be installed at the intersection of Cedar Street and 4th Avenue in the Right-of-Way.
–The Board of Aldermen approved, with three votes, the sale of surplus items. Items vary from things as small as file folders to larger items such as vehicles.
–James Powell was hired as a Public Works Utility Operator
–Robert Remaley was promoted to Police Sergeant
