Howard Barton Matthews, known to family and friends as Bart, was the owner and operator of OilPro Supply and employee of Reynolds Consumer Products of Temple.
Bart died on the evening of October 29, 2019 at the age of 58.  
Bart is survived by his mother, Marie Matthews Collie, sons Michael and Justin Hayes, sisters Darla Matthews and Lisa Dotson, niece Kendall Walker, and nephew Chase Siner, and many other family and friends.
He was predeceased in life by his father, Robert Matthews.
Bart was born on March 13, 1961.
He attended Texas State Technical Institute for a while, then went on to become a business entrepreneur. Bart owned and operated Bart’s Car Wash, ArkLaTex Photography, The Wheel Deal, Bison Supply, and OilPro Supply.  
Bart had a zest for life that was unmatched by others.
He enjoyed participating in cookoff competitions, traveling, boating, playing music, dancing, and surrounding himself with friends and family.
He was outgoing and Bart never met a stranger.
He was known for his generosity.  
The visitation was held at Griffin-Roughton Funeral home in Fairfield, Texas on Friday, November 1, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm.
Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church in Fairfield, Texas at 3:00 pm. Burial followed at Fairfield Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeff Kirgan, Bud Carroll, Paul Matthews, Kris Goodman, David Bonds and Stanley Winkle. Honorary Pallbearer will be Jay Bray.
