Dear Editor,

A friend recently loaned me a copy of the Eagle Beat, Fairfield High Schools newspaper, dated September 27th.
It is an impressive paper with many very good pictures and articles.
One article, written by Erin Rachel, grabbed my attention. It was an article entitled ‘Dangerous Trend’ highlighting some of the potential problems and the popularity of vapes.
She points out that many of these products are addictive and dangerous, especially to someone who is still young.  The “target audience for juuls and vapes are not only current tobacco users but young adults and teenagers.” The article pointed out that in 2018 “1 in 5 students own an e-cigarette or juul.”
I’m grateful for Rachel raising the awareness of this so-called safe product and the potential and real dangers to those who use them. Parents should take note of this trend and take the responsibility that God has given them to protect those for whom they are responsible.
