Just when I think I have seen everything there is to see, something new appears and I am so surprised by it! Even though they are telling us that it is going to be cooler, much cooler there are still bugs and bees and wasps flying around. The Hummingbirds have left now so they are on the good list even though I miss them greatly. It has been so hot that we are constantly filling the Beagles water bowls. We have three of them and they are all different sizes. Plus the fact they have a different favorite bowl every other day! Some days they simply won’t drink out of the red bowl or the silver bowl or the pink bowl. That’s OK, at least we know there is water there for them.
Today, The Colonel said to me that he had seen the most unusual thing. What he saw was a wasp that landed on the silver bowl and bent over the rim of the bowl to drink water! Who would have thought? Neither one of us had ever seen that before. So, when I went out to feed the dogs, here comes the wasp after I had emptied their bowls to fill with fresh water. Everything had to be just perfect for the wasp. There was a spider crawling on the patio and he would not land. Finally the spider ran away after the wasp dived bomb him. Then a leaf blew by, then the Beagles moved, and on and on. The wasp kept flying around and finally things were good for his landing. He landed on the rim, bent over the rim of the bowl and started drinking. The Colonel said he guessed they needed water too to which I responded; it means we should start drinking more water if a wasp needs it that badly.
Never ceases to amaze me what is seen on this the Red Oak Ranch.
