Teague Aldermen met for a Budget Workshop on Monday, August, 26th, 2019.
After the budgets failing at the prior meeting they quickly set up a new workshop, and started working on what to do to fix the perceived problems.
Three Aldermen felt that paying the police officers $1.00 per hour to act as animal control officers was not an acceptable option, and voted to not pass the budget.
After reaching out to City Administrator Theresa Prasil she explained , “We had a very productive Budget Workshop last night and was able to come to an over consensus of hiring a Contract Animal Control Service.”
Alderman Rhonda Jones also commented on how productive the meeting had gone.
There is a special called meeting on Monday, September 9th, 2019 to allow the council to once again vote on the budget.
The budget must be approved before the beginning of the next Fiscal Year, October 1st, 2019 making September 30th the absolute last day the budget can be approved.
