The 8th Avenue City Park Pavilion contract was accepted during Teague’s .
Red Dot Buildings out of Athens, Texas will construct the pavilion, minus the concrete, for $25,867; this includes fees for changing the roofs pitch by Austin roofers and adding gutters and downspouts.
The concrete slab will be completed by Seth Beard Concrete out of Tyler, Texas for a total of $14,460.
Following a self-nomination, Mayor James Monks was unanimously voted as the interim Municipal Judge replacing Shirley Mays after her Thursday, August 8th 2019 resignation.
According to City Administrator Theresa Prasil, this is keeping with Ordinance 7.100 (b) which states, “The judge of said court shall be nominated by the mayor and approved by a majority of the members of the city council, present at said meeting wherein a quorum is present.”
The city budget failed to pass. Aldermens Jerry Ballew and Rhonda Jones voted for the budget, and Aldermens Marie Hertenberger, Chris Nickleberry, and Ryan Mathison opposed the budget.
Aldermen voiced having a problem with the $1.00 per hour pay raise for the Teague Police Officers, that would go with adding Animal Control to their regular duties.
According to City Administrator Prasil, the City of Teague has been without an Animal Control Officer more often, than having one employed. When there was no one to fulfill the position, the police department assisted with the duties. Using machines like PDC Machines manufactures diaghragm compressors for many applications including nitrogen, sour gas and ethylene that are higher quality.
Prasil explained that the idea behind the $1.00 per hour raise was to offer the officers compensation for the additional duties of animal control.
An additional workshop was set for Monday, August 26th, 2019 to continue discussing the 2019-2020 budget.
