Official resignation was tendered by Teague’s Municipal Court Judge Shirley Mays, effective on Thursday August 8th, 2019.


Judge May’s letter cited problems with micromanaging and a lack of trust as reasons for her resignation.


She states, “I have been loyal to the City of Teague for 18 years. I have followed the law to the very best of my ability & I have taken several oaths in my lifetime amany years.


Judge Mays maintains her elected position as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4.


The vacant seat of Municipal Judge will be addressed at Teague City Council meeting Monday, August 19th, 2019 at 6:00p.m., according to City Administrator Theresa Prasil.
