Dr. Charles Herman York, 71, of Mesquite, Texas, died Tuesday, June 24, 2019 in Dallas.
Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2019 at Capps Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dale Hobbs of First Christian Church of Seagoville officiating. Interment followed at Stewards Mill Cemetery.
Dr. York was born September 6, 1947 in Honey Grove, Texas to parents Herman Lee York and Martha Inez Carter York.
He received his Certificate of Ordination from International Christian College in 1977; an Associates in Arts & Sciences from Eastfield College in 1988. He received his Doctor of Humane Letters from Southern California Theological Seminary in 1992 and Bachelor of Science in Management from The University of Phoenix in 2007.
Dr. York was in education and ministry for over 40 years with Alpha Academy as a teacher and principal from 1978 to 2001 and with Alpha Charter as Superintendent from 2001 to 2014.
He married his wife, Socorro, on June 8, 2013.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death in 2003 by his first wife Wilma York. Also, his grandparents, Leonard and Mabel York and Albert and Stella Carter.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Socorro of Mesquite; three children, Art York and wife Shelly of Rowlett, TX; Valanie Goldman and husband Jeremy of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Charles York, Jr. and wife Lisette of Rowlett; two sisters, Patricia York Hilton and husband Tony of Dew, TX; Stephanie Hughes and husband Dirk of White Oak, TX; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; two special aunts, Joyce Watson and Gladys Stevenson.
