Funeral services for Nellie H. McCollum, 83, will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Teague.
Bro. Scott Matthews and Bro. Darrel Beggs will officiate.
A private family interment will follow the services at Union Cemetery near Freestone.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home, however; visitation with the family will be held prior to the service on Wednesday in the old fellowship hall at First Baptist Church beginning at 1:30 p.m. and ending just before service time at 3:00 p.m.
Mrs. McCollum passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 7, 1935, in Donie, Texas to Reed and Cora Lee Harris. She graduated from Teague High School with the class of 1952.
Nellie received her nursing home administrator license in 1975. She worked at many local nursing homes as well as in the Corpus Christi area where she relocated with the love of her life, Glenn Ross, in 1984. They shared twenty years of marriage together eventually returned back to Teague.
She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Teague. Nellie loved antiques, decorating, gardening and her family. Above all, she loved being a disciple for Christ.
She is survived by four daughters, Eva Price & husband Rick, Dawna Hyden & husband Randy, Tricia DuBois all of Teague, and Tammie Hall & husband Jack of Houston; one son, Michael McCollum & wife Debbie of Boerne; five grandchildren, Brian, Traci, Jennifer, Reed, Jeff & their families; eight blended grandchildren Emily, Gibson, Casey, Shelly, Steven, Lisa, Vickie, Rebekah & their families; twenty-one great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends including Helen Phillips & Sonya Bibby.
Mrs. McCollum was preceded in death by her parents, Reed & Cora Harris; her husband Glenn McCollum; one grandson, Scott Hyden; and two sisters, Elrose West and Margaret Silar.
The family would like to thank Providence Hospice for their excellent guidance and care.
