This Sunday, April 28, 2019 will be extra special as millions around the world will be observing Pay It Forward Day.

Fairfield Mayor Kenny Hughes made it official during a signing ceremony last week with a proclamation that urges citizens to observe the day with activities and acts of kindness that demonstrate and celebrate selfless giving.

Inspired by the 2000 novel by Catherine Ryan Hyde, and the movie starring Haley Joel Osment and Helen Hunt, the Pay It Forward movement is supported by people in more than 70 countries on 6 continents.

Pay It Forward Day encourages people to do good deeds for others without asking for anything in return, except for the recipients to “pay it forward” to others in need.

Together, we can make a difference by creating positive change in our community and world – one good deed at a time.

Simple Ways to Pay It Forward:

–donate gently used clothes to charity

–compliment someone everyday

–hug a friend

–shop at local businesses

–spread good news

–offer your seat to an elderly person

–carry someone’s grocery bags

–pick up litter

–greet people with a smile

–say ‘yes’ when someone asks for help
