As a founder of the new citizen’s group, Our Town Committee, I wanted make clear that our recommendations, given to Fairfield City Council during the February 26, 2019 meeting, were meant to be “in addition to” what is already being done by so many hard-working individuals and organizations in our hometown.
If it were not for the army of ready volunteers of Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, organized by Executive Director Brenda Pate, annual City events such as the upcoming Eggstravaganza on April 20th simply would not happen.
If it were not for the diligence of the women of Fairfield History Club, the historic Moody-Bradley House would not be standing today. Neither would it attract out-of-town visitors to this unique wedding venue, as well as their annual Pilgrimage.
If it were not for the foresight of the Freestone County Historical Museum board and volunteers;
For the vision of the Trinity Star Arts Council and their patrons;
For the enthusiasm of the Fairfield Soccer FC organization;
And, on and on goes the list of volunteers, community leaders, and contributing sponsors.
No one person, or one organization, can accomplish what we envision for Fairfield. It will take all of us, working in coordination, to bring it about.
Thank you to each member of the Council for their kind remarks last month, and the support they expressed for our group’s efforts.
We invite everyone to join our efforts in promoting Fairfield and planning new activities for the area. Our next meeting is Monday, March 25 at 12:00 noon at the Chamber of Commerce office.
For those who are unable to attend, we will post a live feed of the meeting in our Facebook group. Be sure to send a request to join the Our Town Committee – Fairfield, Texas group at least a day before the meeting.
Our goal as a committee is to create a buzz and build enthusiasm about Our Town to encourage visitors to come eat, shop and stay in Fairfield, Texas.
Anyone is welcome who is interested in promoting the best of our hometown.
