Committee assignments were announced recently for the 86th Texas Legislature.
Representing local voters, Representative Cody Harris (Dist. 8) is serving his first year in the Texas House. He represents Anderson, Freestone, Hill and Navarro Counties.
Harris will serve on three committees: natural resources, energy resources, and local & consent calendars.
“I’m fortunate that all three committees will allow me to represent House District 8 in significant ways, and I am enthusiastic to see what is in store for the next few months,” says Rep. Harris.
Senator Charles Schwertner (Dist. 5) is beginning his third term in the Texas Senate. His constituents encompass a ten-county area that includes Brazos, Freestone, Grimes, Leon, Limestone, Madison, Milam, Robertson, Walker and Williamson Counties.
Schwertner has been appointed as vice-chairman of the intergovernmental relations committee and will also serve on transportation, agriculture, business and commerce, veterans affairs, and border security.
