The Freestone County Office of Emergency Management will test the county emergency notification/alert system around 6:00 PM on Thursday, December 6, 2018.  Most residents of Freestone County with “hard line wired” telephones will receive a telephone call during this time from (903) 389-8884.  In addition, residents or businesses that have registered their other contact information, such as cell phone, text message and/or email address for the emergency notification system should receive the test notification. The call will state “Greetings, this is a message from the Freestone County Alert System”. They will then receive the test message information.

The emergency notification system is able to send emergency or public warnings to citizens by county and city officials.  It has a database of hard line wired phone numbers for most of the residents and businesses in Freestone County.  However, many citizens do not have a “hard line wired” telephone.  Therefore, it is important that citizens register their cell phone number, text message number, and/or email address if they desire to receive future alert messages from the county emergency notification system.
