The Fairfield Eagles jumped out to 22-0 first quarter lead and never looked back as they dominated the Wills Point Tigers 56-19 at Wildcat Stadium in Palestine on Friday night.
TAKING DOWN THE TIGER are Fairfield Eagles #44 Dylan Rushin, #22 Zane Anderson and #5 Jar-Mychael Hudson.
The Fairfield Eagles will move into the area round of the playoffs and face the Gilmer Buckeyes (5-6) at 2 p.m. on Friday at Bruce Field in Athens.
JaShaughn Hatcher had 158 yards on a light duty 11 carries on the night in the big win. Fairfield outplayed the Tigers in all phases of the game.
Fairfield took the ball first and made quick work of the drive to put points on the board. Hatcher ripped off a 20-yard run into Wills Point territory to the 32-yard line. The offensive line Justin Cooper, Josh Arrington, Brazos Monico, Chandler Noble and Parker Eidson gave the running backs great places to run and provided protection to quarterback Chad Rushin. Rushin dropped to pass and hit Kameron Ransom over the middle for the 32-yard touchdown and an early 8-0 lead on the conversion run Jar-Mychael Hudson.
Wills Point did not pick up a first down and had good field position. Kadarrius Walker stopped Bradley short of the first down and took over at midfield. The Eagles pounded the defensive front of the Tigers with running plays and Rushin was picked off near the goal line.
MOMENTS INTO THE BI-DISTRICT GAME against the Wills Point Tigers, Fairfield’s Kam Ransom scores the first touchdown.
Jaise Oliver promptly returned the turnover with an interception at the 41-yard line and the Eagles needed only one play. Rushin tossed a short pass to Blake Posey and he weaved his way through the Tiger secondary for the touchdown. Ransom ran in the conversion for a 16-0 lead.
The Eagles had the game in control and began the next drive at the 37-yard line. Hatcher ran for 15 yards and had a 15-yard penalty added to the play. Rushin handed to Ransom and he raced around the Wills Point defense for the score. The conversion was no good and the Eagles led 22-0 after one. Fairfield used the run to set up the deep passing game and the Wills Point defense loaded up to stop the run. Rushin went over the top to Ransom for his third touchdown over a span of a few minutes. This pass covered 63 yards and the lead grew to 30-0 on the conversion from Rushin to DaQuann McWilliams.
RAISING THE TROPHY are the Fairfield Eagles who triumphed over the Wills Point Tigers.
The Eagles special teams forced a fumble on the kickoff and Dylon Rushin recovered to set the Eagle offense at the Tiger 42-yard line. A quick pass interference and a six-yard pass to Ty Bachtel put the ball near the 20-yard line. Walker took the handoff and scored his touchdown from 17 yards out and the lead grew to 36-0 not even half way through the second quarter.
Blake Posey intercepted a pass in the end zone to stop one of the best drives of the night for the Tigers. On second down from the 23, Hatcher sliced thought the Tiger defense on a 67-yard run. He was tackled at the ten-yard line and Hudson finished the drive for the five-yard touchdown and a 42-0 lead.

Wills Point moved the ball into Eagle territory but a couple of tackles behind the line of scrimmage from Jordan Gibson. On third down, quarterback Hill was under pressure and the ball was knocked loose and it bounced into the arms of Gibson and he trotted into the end zone alone with the 63-yard fumble return. The half ended with the Eagles ahead 48-0.
The Tigers turned the ball over on their first possession of the second half. The ball bounded into the end zone on the fumbled snap and Walker recovered it in the end zone for the touchdown. Rushin passed to Posey for the conversion and the commanding 56-0 lead.
The big lead gave way to some of the reserves to enter the game. Trent Ferguson, Wyatt Poole, Tonio Carter, Lex Thompson and others saw extensive time on the Eagle defense. They gave up a couple of fourth quarter touchdowns and the final score was 56-19.
The Eagle offense had a different look and they controlled the clock the remainder of the game. New faces on the offensive line and backfield saw some good drives for the Eagle offensive.
