On Thursday, October 25th, the Teague Lion Band competed at UIL Region Marching Contest at McGregor High School. Students received straight ones from all three judges. The theme for the show this year is called Metamorphosis by Luke McMillan. The music is specifically commissioned for the Teague Lion Band and no other school in the state can use it until our current marching season is over.
Students begin rehearsals starting on August 1st. Students are expected to pass off marching fundamentals and memorize their music in order to earn a spot on the field. The band is truly like a large family and everyone involved is incredibly important.
Currently, the Teague Lion Band has one of the largest 3A band programs in the State of Texas. The band went to State Marching Contest in 2015 and has earned a total of 9 Sweepstakes in their history. We are working towards our 10th Sweepstakes this year. The band has advanced to State Honor Band Contest and consistently advance to the Area Finalist round for Marching Contest.
