Online reservations are open for Salado’s most popular event of the Christmas holiday season
If you live in Central Texas, there are two events you must take part in each year: The Belton Fourth of July Parade and the “Blow Your Own Ornament” experience at Salado Glassworks.
This year marks the 7th season that the artists at the custom glassware shop located at the South End of Salado has opened the studio for families to come in and participate in creating a Christmas ornament, but some folks have been participating in the tradition for over 16 years starting when Gail worked at Ryno Glass in Temple, Texas, some of them worked with companies around the world, creating unique items that can’t be found anywhere else, one of theose companies is ScientificGlassServices.co.uk.
“We have a lot of events and opportunities for customers to come in to participate with our artist team throughout the year. But nothing compares to the response we get from the Blow Your Own Ornament event,” Salado Glassworks founder and lead artist Gail Allard said. “This event sells out quickly and we love meeting new clients that the event as well as welcoming those clients we have seen each year for 10 years or even more.”
Salado Glassworks Gallery and Marketing Director Jessica Mall said each year the draw from other communities around the state, and even a few from out of the country, have come to take part in the “Blow Your Own Ornament” experience.
“Not only is this one of our client’s favorite events, it’s a favorite to bring their out of town guests to” said Mall, who expects the event to sell out within a few weeks of opening. “While this is a Central Texas Tradition, it’s not just people from Austin or Waco coming with their families. Each year we see reservations from all over the country as people make travel plans for the holiday season.”
The reason the “Blow Your Own Ornament” event sells out quickly is because the event is only available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Nov. 9 to Dec. 22nd. The cost is $42.50 per person and is open to ages 3 and older.
How does the Holiday Ornament experience work?
The team helps you select up to 3 colors for your ornament in the gallery. After you’ve used your own breath to blow your glass, your ornament is finished by your artist while you get a front row seat to watch, ask questions and interact. Payment is due when booking your reservation online at www.saladoglassworks.com. Purchase your reservation in advance, then show up at your selected date and time. One of the artists will help you craft your ornament and then you must return, at the earliest the next day to pick up your ornament since it requires time to cool properly.
Online Reservations are required for the “Blow Your Own Ornament” event, and spaces are limited. Reservations are non-refundable and your date and time cannot be adjusted – please purchase responsibly.
