The Teague Lions fell behind in the first half, but a grand effort allowed the to keep the game close. They would fall in the district opener 35-13 to the Grandview Zebras.

Grandview took a 14-0 lead in the first half on a pair of touchdown passes from Jentsch to Cooper Deans and Austin Boyd. The pass to Deans happened at the 3:39 mark of the first quarter and the second touchdown early in the second quarter.

Jentsch would add a touchdown on the ground in the opening moments of the third quarter. The drive consumed a little over a minute and the lead swelled to 21-0.

The Lions could not get points on the board through the first two and a half quarters and the Zebras added another touchdown midway through the third. Treymane Gullete scored on a 13-yard run to lead 28-0 and had the game well in hand.

The Lions would get on the board with a pair of touchdowns in last minutes of the third quarter. Quarterback Zach Satterwhite found his favorite receiver when he hit Daveon Dixon for a spectacular 59-yard catch and run to cut the lead to 35-7. Satterwhite added a one-yard run with 2:10 remaining in the quarter and the Zebra lead 28-13.

Jentch added the final score of the night on a two-yard run to close the scoring at 35-13.

The Lions will take to the road to Groesbeck to take on the Goats.

Groesbeck dropped their first district game to the West Trojans 48-33 and have a 1-1 district record. West leads the district with all teams still in the mix with the possible exception of Maypearl. The Panthers are 0-2 and winless on the season.
