Final Update:
Police Chief Kenny Bulger will be allowed to return to work tomorrow at 8:00 a.m., per Mayor Kenny Hughes.
Second Update:
Council returned from Executive Session at 7:34pm and voted to remove one agenda item relating to Police Chief Kenny Bulger.
Several more items concerning Chief Bulger have yet to be addressed.
Agenda item removed was #16-a: “Personnel Matters to deliberate appointment, evaluation. Reassignment, duties, or dismissal of a public officer or employee — concerning Chief of Police Kenny Bulger — specifically separation from employment and/or settlement agreement negotiations including payment of up to 3 months’ severance pay or three months’ extended paid leave.”
Update:
After addressing several agenda items concerning traffic and street issues, Council has adjourned into Executive session at apprixinately 6:40 pm to consult with the City Attorney concerning employment if Police Chief Kenny Bulger.

Heavy on the agenda for this week’s Fairfield Council meeting is the fate of the City’s Police Chief, Kenny Bulger.
The long-time head of Fairfield Police Department was suspended, with pay, over six weeks ago.
Although the personnel issue has been addressed several times in closed Executive Session, Mayor Kenneth Hughes has not commented publicly on the reasons for the suspension of Chief Bulger.
As this week’s newspaper edition hits the stands Tuesday evening, July 10, 2018, Fairfield Council members are set to discuss, and take action on:
–Contract for an Operational Performance and Internal Affairs Audit of the Fairfield Police Department
–Moratorium on Personnel investigations, probationary reviews, and other actions of any nature regarding Police Department personnel until audits are completed
–Consultation with Attorney concerning possible employment actions concerning Chief of Police
–Personnel Matters concerning Chief of Police, specifically Separation from Employment and/or Settlement Agreement Negotiations including payment of up to 3 months’ severance pay or extended paid leave
