Still nothing new to report concerning Fairfield’s Chief of Police Kenny Bulger, who was taken off active duty a full month ago the city council will require More Help from the lawyers.
Mayor Kenneth Hughes was not yet ready to comment on the personnel situation, Monday morning. He had previously stated that the next step in the process was to present the matter to City Council.
On the agenda for last week’s Special Called Meeting was an item that read, “Pending Personnel Investigation,” to be addressed in Executive Session in order to consult with the City Attorney.
After nearly two and a half hours in closed session on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, it was announced that no action was to be taken by Council that evening.
Two other matters, listed under Executive Session for attorney consultation, were not acted on, either. Included were matters concerning “TDCJ Utility Project” and “Forensic Audit.”
Forensic Audit findings, and subsequent recommendations to the City of Fairfield, had been presented to the public during a Special Called Meeting on May 29, 2018.
The 300-plus page report was officially released on Monday afternoon, June 25th following public information requests from several citizens. The “Times” will peruse those documents this week.
Last week’s meeting ended with an hour-long training session conducted by City Attorney Linda Sjogren. Presented was information on State Municipal Law concerning Open Meetings and Ethics for Elected City officials, as well as the annual budget process.
Budget workshops are expected to get underway next month.
