A memorial stone was placed Wednesday on the Courthouse Square in Fairfield to honor DPS Trooper Damon Allen, 41, who was killed on Thanksgiving Day during a traffic stop on Interstate 45.

“It’s clear that the profession of law enforcement was not just a job for Trooper Allen, it was a calling and is with great honor that we recognize him today for his bravery and sacrifice as we dedicate this memorial in his name,” says DPS Interim Deputy Director Freeman Martin during the ceremony.

The stone marker bears an inscription that reads, “We the people of the State of Texas acknowledge and thank Trooper IV Damon C. Allen for the great sacrifice he made to keep the public safe. His efforts will stand the test of time. May God bless his soul.”

Trooper Allen’s wife Kasey had this to say, “Even as we gather for a memorial to honor a loved one who is no long with us, we have to remember all the good things in life as well.”

Even in the pouring down rain, many members of the community attended the memorial to honor this fallen hero.
