Valedictorian
“I am very excited and thankful for everyone who helped me achieve this,” says Teague High School Valedictorian 2018 Katelin Christine Bodine.
The daughter of Melissa and Jody Bodine, Katelin has one brother, 14-year-old Jarrett.
Katelin boasts a Grade Point Average of 4.887; and says to her underclassmen, “Get involved! Being a part of an organization will bless you with great friends and memories. It also provides you with a support network that pushes you to be your best.”
Her school activities include being a member of the National Honor Society, Hispanic Honor Society, Varsity Cheerleading, and Marching & Concert Band.
School honors are serving as Student Council President, Head Drum Major, Homecoming Queen, Buddy Lowe Integrity Award, Most Valuable Varsity Cheerleader, 2018 Fellowship of Christian Athletes Victory Bowl Cheerleader, and Miss THS Nominee.
Outside of school, Katelin serves in the FBC Youth Ministry, Teague Elementary Mentoring Program, and is a member of the Freestone 4H Shooting Sports Team.
Katelin’s hobbies include playing piano and reading.
She plans to attend Texas A&M University to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
When asked who has inspired her most, she says, “Mrs. Waldrip, because she has always been so invested in her students. She’s always a motivator and an advocator for her students!”
“I love the closes of our group,” she says. “Everyone is able to be a part of anything and everything!”

Salutatorian
Earning the title of Salutatorian for the Teague High School Class of 2018 with a Grade Point Average of 4.871 is Benjamin (Ben) Wayne Whitaker, son of Keitha Whitaker and Brandon Whitaker.
“I’m very honored and extremely excited,” he says about earning this honor.
Ben has one sibling, a brother named Luke.
His hobbies include writing, reading, and playing golf.
During high school, Ben participated in National Honor Society, Student Council, Hispanic Honor Society, Varsity Golf, Theater, and The Orange & White Staff.
Some of his high school honors include serving as National Honor Society Vice-President, Editor-in-Chief of The Orange & White, and was a Mr. THS Nominee.
Outside of school, Ben participates in his church youth group.
His advice to underclassmen is, “Always try your best. Slacking and procrastinating is never a good idea… like ever. Don’t do it. Seriously, it doesn’t work.”
Ben explains what he appreciates most about his high school, “I like the size because it allows me to participate in so much and make so many friends.”
His teacher, Mrs. Rodriguez, is who inspired him the most during his high school years.
“She restarted the Orange & White this last year,” he says. “If she hadn’t done that, I may have never realized my passion.”
Ben plans to attend Texas A&M to pursue a degree in Agricultural Communications & Journalism because he loves writing and wants to make a career out of it.
