A pure delight was this past weekend’s production of “You Don’t Know Me:  The Cindy Walker Songbook,” presented by Trinity Star Arts Council (TSAC).

The driving energy came from Rachel Bossier’s animated portrayal of one of Country music’s most prolific songwriters.

Also featured were Anna Allen, playing Miss Cindy Walker at age 8, and Eden Daniel, lending her signing and tap dancing talent to the 12-year-old main character.

The audience was entertained by the likes of Bing Crosby (Scott Bossier), Gene Autry (Stan Waldrip), and the maestro and King of Western Swing, Bob Wills (Jeff Harrison).

Harrison is the author of this original musical, directed by George Boyd.  Musical Direction was provided by Jeff Harrison and Dianne Murden.

Audience favorites included newcomer Rusty Spacek, who entertained with “Bubbles In My Beer” as Tommy Duncan of the Texas Playboys, and Jimmy Joyce Nichols, who performed a beautiful rendition of the title song, “You Don’t Know Me.”

And, of course, the deep baritone of Bob Gage, who lent his voice to several tracks, including “Warm Red Wine.”

Rounding out the cast were Rich Schaufert, Sandra Huffman, Sam Bounds, Tex Schutz, Julie Ann Medford, Brittain Bossier, Kayden Busby, and Chase Wanyoike.

Karyl Butler, who began styling Miss Cindy Walker’s hair in the late 1970’s, played herself.  She also provided hair design for the production.

Backing up the singing sensations were members of the Muleskinner Band:  Michal Davis (fiddle, mandolin), Clif Allen (bass), Daron Stone (piano), Sam Bounds (drums), Steve Yates (guitar), W.J. Copeland (steel guitar), and Meredith Riddle (fiddle).

Closing out the evening was local favorite country singer, Stan Waldrip, with “A Goin’ Away Party.”

Well done, as always.
