Funeral services for Jerry Pruitt, 72, will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague. Bro. Roy Prather and Bro. Bobby Myers will officiate with music provided by Bro. Shaun Sifford. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Pruitt, Bo Pruitt, Michael Pruitt, Richard Pruitt, Timmy Pruitt, John Pruiett, and Kenneth Brooke. Interment will follow the services at Dew Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home.
Mr. Pruitt passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at his residence in Teague.
He was born on November 25, 1945, at Burgers Ranch in Lanely. He graduated from Teague High School with the class of 1964. Jerry married Betty Howell on August 13, 1965, and shared over fifty-two years of marriage together. Mr. Pruitt had a long career working for TXU until his retirement in 2010. He was an avid sports fan, especially Teague Lion Football, and he loved to play golf. Mr. Pruitt was a member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague and served as Sunday School Superintendent for some twenty years.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Pruitt of Teague; two daughters, Cindy Kirgan & husband Jim of Teague and Kathy Beil & husband David of Shiloh; six grandchildren, Kayse Turner & husband Clayton, Kassidy Cardona & husband Allen, Jessica Higgins, Kyle Kirgan, Katherine Higgins, and Kourtnee Kirgan; three great-grandchildren, Antonio Cardona, Aisling Cardona, and Avalon Cardona, and a fourth, Baby Turner, on the way; one sister, Sandra Brooke; two brothers, Johnny Pruiett and Tony Pruitt; numerous other relatives and friends.
Mr. Pruitt was preceded in death by his parents, Archie & Lois Pruitt; three brothers, Sterling Pruitt, Preston Pruitt, and Harold Pruitt; and four sisters, Ouida Ward, Jewel Padgett, Yvonne Pruitt, and a baby sister.
