Matthew Christopher Mize, 37, of Fairfield passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at his residence. Celebration of Life services were held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 at First Baptist Church Fairfield with Rev. Leon Thomas officiating.
Matthew was born May 17, 1980 in Brownwood, Texas to Benny and Claudia Tipps Mize. He graduated from Teague High School in 1998 and attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He resided in Missouri before returning to Fairfield in 2016. He was a member of First Baptist Church Fairfield.
Matthew had one son, Aidan Mize, who he loved and considered as his greatest accomplishment. He was the key to getting his son to understand about Christ, and his son wishes to follow in his footsteps. He had a compassionate heart, especially for those who were down on their luck.
He loved animals, plants, and all of God’s creation. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Claude Tipps and H.F. Mize.
Left to cherish his memory is his son Aidan Mize of Fairfield; his parents, Benny and Claudia Mize of Fairfield; his brother, Ben Mize and wife Lauren of Kalamazoo, Michigan; his sister, Emily Mize, of Fairfield; grandmothers, Dorothy Tipps of Ledbetter, Tx and Wilda Mize McKibben of Brownwood, Tx; one niece, Ruby Mize; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
