Declaring the month of April to be Child Abuse Prevention Month, Freestone County Judge Linda Grant puts pen to paper as members of the Child Protective Board (CPS) bear witness on Friday, April 6, 2018.

Freestone County’s CPS Board members include Pamela Barnes, Cheryl Evans, Cynthia Gage, Karen Daniels, Katherine Jackson, Pilar Harris, and Cynthia Shed.

Board members were later joined by County Commissioners, District Clerk, District Attorney, County Clerk, County Treasurer and others, including law enforcement with the County Sheriff’s Office, to release thirty-four blue balloons, representing the children currently in foster care.

Go Blue Day was also celebrated with a Hotdog Lunch Fundraiser, with the grilling expertise of Sheriff Jeremy Shipley.

Effective child abuse prevention programs succeed because of partnerships among agencies, schools, religious organizations, law enforcement agencies, and the business community.

Everyone in Freestone County is encouraged to become more aware of child abuse prevention and should consider helping parents raise their children in a safe, nurturing environment.

Find out how you can help by contacting a CPS board member, today.
