A tale of a damsel in distress at the Red Oak Ranch and the White Knight that saved her or tried to save her!
The storm that was brewing was to have lots of wind and rain and hail. She didn’t want her beautiful horse to suffer through that so she needed to be quick. The Colonel had mentioned that he would go down and feed the heifers that were in the corral.
So, off she took in her truck. She got the feed ready for Sundance, put some hay in the truck and all was ready. Driving down to the paddock area, she noticed Sundance had seen her coming so the damsel called to her and they walked the fence line together, Sundance on one side and she on the other.
She quickly put out the oats that were spiced with raisins and carrots and the hay. Sundance came in a little nervous because of the storm. There was loud thunder and lots of lightning.
Walking back through the paddock the rain started and she was quickly soaked. She got back to the house and waited just a little for the rain to let up so she could get to the door.
Walking on the stepping stones to the door, the thunder increased a lot wiping out any other sound. She walked inside and noticed The Colonel just walking out of the garage door. She wondered why he had waited so late to feed the heifers and why he was going now when the rain was so heavy.
He was gone quite a while and when he came through the door he was totally soaked! “Where were you?” he asked. I have been all over hunting for you. I even walked through the paddock to the stable because I thought you might be in the stable to get out of the rain.
We talked some more about it, and discovered that my White Knight tried desperately to save me to no avail by mere one or two seconds. He never saw me come in and when he saw my truck parked thought I must have walked from the house down to the stable.
It was pretty romantic anyway just to know that he tried to keep me safe and from getting wet!
