Thirty-two candidates are looking to fill sixteen elected positions in local school and city elections.

In fact, one of those positions, the mayoral seat in Teague, has a record FIVE candidates running for the office.

This year, Freestone County Times is hosting two events to assist voters in making the best choices for their communities.

On Thursday, March 22nd, a Candidates Forum will be held at the Green Barn Civic Center at the fairgrounds in Fairfield, Texas.

Candidates for Fairfield ISD School Board, Fairfield City Council, and Streetman City Council have been invited to attend.

Editor Karen Leidy will serve as moderator.

The next week, on Thursday, March 29th, a second Candidates Forum will be held at the Community Center at 515 Main Street in downtown Teague, Texas.

Candidates for Teague City Council, Wortham City Council and Wortham ISD School Board have been invited to attend.

Assistant Editor Megan Leidy will serve as moderator.

Teague ISD will not hold an election this year, as none of the incumbents filing for the four open positions have an opponent.

Each Candidate Forum will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Special thanks to the City of Fairfield and the City of Teague for providing the venues for these events.
