The Annual Predator Hunt will take place in Freestone County, Texas the first weekend in March.
Freestone County Game Management Association (FCGMA) is hosting their 6th annual event on March 2-4, 2018.
Entry Fee is $200 per team, with teams consisting of one to four members.
There is quite a lot of money to be had, for ridding the county of varmints.
First Place is guaranteed $1,000 in payout. Most animals killed also wins $1,000.
Four Coy Turner Handmade Trophy Buckles will be awarded to members of the First Place Team, along with jackets and payout.
Second and Third Place teams will receive jackets and payout.
An optional contest will be held for Biggest Hog and Biggest Coyote. Cost is $40 per team with 100% payout back to the winner.
Contestants will check in on Friday, March 2nd from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Freestone County Fairgrounds in Fairfield, Texas.
Hunting must be conducted in Freestone County, or bordering counties. All hunting dogs are allowed.
Contest time starts Friday at 7:00 p.m. and ends Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Point system is as follows:
–Long Tail Cat – 300
–Bobcat / Lynx – 100
–Coyote – 75
–Fox – 75
–Ringtail Cat – 75
–Hogs – 50
–Coons – 30
–Skunks – 30
–Possums – 20
–Armadillo – 20
There will be a $5 bounty on all hogs checked in.
Contestants must abide by ALL FCGMA and Texas Parks & Wildlife Department rules and regulations during the hunt.
Contestants must be back to the Freestone County Fairgrounds by 1:00 p.m. on Sunday to qualify for the contest.
All animals checked in must have been called and shot during competition hours. No trapped, poisoned, pen-raised, freezer varmint, road kill or friendship predator (donated by a buddy) will be allowed.
Each team must bring in every animal whole (core temperatures may be checked). Skunks, bring tail only.
