Hot shooting by the Grandview Lady Zebras took down the experience of the Teague Lady Lions at Corsicana High School Monday night. Teague ends the season at 30-3.
Carrie Sullivan proved to be the one to stop and she hit a short jumper and a three pointer to boost the Lady Zebras out to slim lead.
Kadaja Nickleberry (left) matched that and Cady Drake scored on a couple of free throws. Sullivan hit another short jumper and another three pointer for ten points in the quarter and Grandview led 14-7.
Teague began to heat up in the early moments of the second period with Caelyn Thompson getting a rebound and put back shot and the first score from Destanee Roblow.
Those efforts could not cut down the lead since those scores were countered Crosbi Jentsch and another Sullivan three pointer.
Brooke Pewitt added a couple of scores and Jentsch scored a three pointer and Grandview shot seven of ten in the period.
The Lady Zebras added six points to their lead and held a 35-22 halftime lead.
Five different Lady Lions scored baskets in the third and they only hit one of six free throws and their efforts to cut into the lead were not enough to shave any points.
Emily Little sparked a Grandview run and Sullivan added her fourth three pointer of the game. Grandview held a 49-34 lead heading into the fourth period.
Roblow caught a bit of a run for Teague with eight points in the fourth period.
Jentsch hit a pair of three pointers and Sullivan added a fifth three pointer and a 20 point fourth period sealed the game and Grandview won 69-48 and advanced to the regional tournament.
On Friday, Grandview defeated East Chambers in the regional semifinals but lost to the Marlin Lady Bulldogs in the Regional Final.
Marlin will represent Region III in the state basketball tournament next week.
